On August 28, 2021 a team of #prologispeople from around Europe will again take part in the Stelvio for Life challenge - a 21km charity climb up the iconic Passo dello Stelvio in Italy in aid of universal access to targeted treatment of specific cancer types based on their individual DNA profiles.
Picking up where we left off
‘It feels overdue,’ explains Han Hoestra, director Treasury at Prologis Europe. ‘Taking part is quite personal, but also the event itself is integral to supporting the foundations’ mission. As the 2020 edition couldn’t take place due to COVID-19 restrictions it means a lot to our colleagues, sponsors and the organizers that the event can happen this year- and this noticeable, we’re incredibly humbled by the level of support.’ - said Han Hoestra.
Giving back
This year has seen a record turnaround of activity and organization from the moment that the event was announced. With little more than two months to manage team logistics and fundraising activities, contribution from outside as well as our #prologispeople has been beyond expectation. Raising awareness and support for the Stelvio for Life foundation as a vital charity is important and truly changes lives.
All proceeds to the foundation go 100% to supporting it in its mission to identify the most effective treatments while minimizing the side effects. This happens in partnership with the Center for Personalized Cancer Treatment (CPCT), who aside from matching DNA profiles with successful treatments are also an initiator of the internationally focused Drug Rediscovery Protocol (DRUP). This study, for patients who are out of treatment options, aims to simplify access to approved targeted therapies and perform next generation sequencing on tumor biopsies.
