Prologis Spain is forging ahead with its ambitious plans to renovate logistics assets, a strategy that is making the firm a benchmark in this field of industrial real estate. The company recently completed work on Prologis Park Azuqueca DC1 which has been completely renovated in just four months.
It is a logistics building of over 11,000 sqm in the municipality of Azuqueca, in the north-east of Madrid, and is ideally connected, being just minutes from the prosperous Corredor de Henares district and just 40 minutes from the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas International Airport.
There is a scarcity of available land on the fringes of cities like Madrid and Barcelona, and modernising logistics buildings is a great opportunity to meet emerging demand for e-commerce, adapting old facilities to the new needs of customers, who are increasingly rolling out omni-channel operating models. This predict-and-build strategy fits with our radical customer-centric focus. Prologis takes all decisions guided by its customers, so it can offer new value-added services, such as Prologis Essentials Marketplace. The renovation process also creates new value for the regions and helps cut the carbon footprint, thanks to the use of automation and energy efficiency.
The new Azuqueca installation has up to 18 loading bays and excellent lighting, combining natural light from roof and façades with the latest-tech LED systems, saving substantial amounts of energy for building users. It also offers 10 metres clear height, 5 tonnes/sqm loading capacity and fire protection systems, among other functionalities. All of this comes with BREEAM Good sustainable building certification.
